Movies and Canasta

I've had a lovely week so far.

special_trille and I spent Monday night doing a cake run. We went visiting sarren at work and made her feed us. Then, when we ate so much that our tummies were sore, we called sarren to complain. She was very good and apologised saying that the next time we come to the store we could have a free meal. She's so mean... We were going to do a quick drop off at haunted_attics' place because she has been snubbing us and refused to spend any time with us, opting to play with new secret friends studying theses last six weeks. We did not expect to be invited in, but we were and there was no evidence of studying ANYWHERE! Ended up staying for an hour instead of a minute. We ended our evening at thomas_st, mainly because the cake ended there and because it was late and we had to work the next day. So all in all, a successful road trip.

Tuesday, I went to the movies with psycho_tabby and new buddyobscurestyle. We were once again twarted by fate (I have come to the conclusion that we were not meant to watch Children of Men). Meanwhile, cricketk and juffles: first go, got to see CoM. How? How does this happen? Tabby and I have tried 3 times. THREE! But, it was all good because we ended spending quality time with cupidsbow the first time, watching Little Miss Sunshine the second time and Shortbus this time, which was great fun. I'm going to recommend all three: cupidsbow - excellent company; LMS - great laughs; and Sb - porn with plot.


Played cards with the thomas_st crew last night. juffles taught us to play canasta which I enjoyed muchly, and I managed to insult both my partners last night. dr_mickey_k, after two rounds divorced me. He claimed that he had to "clean up" the BBQ/dishes/whatever. *snort*

I may also have told juffles that he was crap while we were losing. But he completely rocked by the end of the evening because we WON. We had a completely ridiculous hand at one point with a total score of 300 points while Team!FlatmateB scored over 1000 points. Words may have accidentally come out of my mouth which may have offended my partner... but seriously, it's a shame that a grown man can't take a well intended insult gracefully! *g*

Ooh, you're beating me on the Children of Men front. I've only failed to see it twice this week.

and - penny drops with a clang. So _that_'s the thomas street house. And I've even been there now!

Let me explain. A couple of years ago I stumbled across the Thomas Street community when browsing friendsfriends and discovered that they'd just finished watching Season One of BSG together, at which point I kicked self as I'd just watched the entire season by myself, as Jeanette lost interest after the first ep or two. At the time, I didn't know anyone who lived there, but thought 'damn, I live on Thomas Street too, I could probably have gatecrashed'. By the time S2 rolled around I'd forgotten the link.

I am indeed entirely up to date. I didn't get around to starting S2 until the webisodes started, then I ploughed through the season in a week so I could read the webisode discussions. I'm now watching S3 at the House of Books and Dogs every Sunday.
