Annecy, Geneva and Nice - very quiet and a little boring as there were not many things to do. So, I watched old, leathery naked people sunbathing on rocky beaches. I thought it would be uncomfortable, but then remembered that people pay a lot for hot stone massages so decided to join in the fun.

Not the naked bit! Just laid on the stones for a while, which was actually quite nice because it was warm on my back.

The rest of the day was spent shopping in the Old Town and eating. A billion different flavours of ice-cream on offer, but no tasters. That makes me sad. I decided on jasmin, violet and guava. I now regret eating dinner. I should have gone for the 15 scoops of ice-cream. Not that dinner was bad, it was pretty awesom, though not as good as AH's. His gnocchi was fabulous. I highly recommend ice-cream from the French Riviera. They makes them goodly.

The night before, we went to the Monaco Cathederal where Prince Ranier and Grace Kelly were married (and buried) and then went to the Grande Casino, which wasn't grand in size, but was very grand in it's elegance and the $$$$$ crazy rich people were throwing away. At one point, a E5,000 bet was made and LOST! and I almost had a heart attack. But he shrugged and continued playing. I couldn't watch any more and spent the evening playing the pokies. I came out breaking even, which was good because I had a good hour and a half at the casino.

Yesterday, we went to Pisa and I had my obligatory "oops, I accidentally tipped over the tower" photo. So, all in all, a good, albeit quite few days.

Today, however, is going to be a mad rush. But, I've decided to take it easy because AH and I are heading back to Florence after our cruise.

Miss you all. Hugs, kisses.

Must be quick, a half hour of dial up internet access is costing me $10 US, but I really needed to email my parents and check my account. What a freaking rip off!

Meanwhile, trip so far has been fantastic! I loved Singapore - so clean and lovely. Egypt is totally the opposite. Very dirty. I have a full report of all this and will post with pics when I get to London.

Meanwhile, the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx: totally lived up to it's hype. It was amazing. I'm currently on the Nile cruise which is very relaxing and utterly breath taking.

Lots of love to you all.

As it turns out, I don't have enough boxes. Mynxie, you mentioned boxes at work? Could I pick some up tomorrow? Also, how the hell did I accumulate so much *crap*? I just threw out a whole bunch of things.

Yesterday was day 4 of my DW obsession. Last night I reverted back to Nine and Rose. They work for me in so many ways. While I love Ten to bits, I love that Nine is so broken and tortured.

Am so tired. Have been staying up until 3am every morning reading fic and coming in to work at 9. I'm a bad employee!

OMG, for real guys; I totally ship The Saxons.

My entire weekend was spent working at the shop and therefore reading fic. Look, it was unintentional. I haven't read any DW fics since forever and I had just rewatched Journey's End and felt the need to indulge in who I thought were my OTP (The Doctor and Rose). As it turns out, not so much. I heart them on the show, but not so much in fic. And then I came across a fic with Rose and Nine and I remembered how much I love CE. Love Nine. And next thing I knew, I was clicking link after link.

And then, jackpot. Rose and the Doctor were all forgotten. It was all about he Doctor and the Master. And then by midnight on Saturday, I stumbled on the Master and Lucy and fell in love.

Lucy and The Master. Totally insane and wicked and I love them. I love them so much. I can't get enough of them. People, this is what a Time Lord and his Campanion should be like. Totally.

I suppose I should link to some fics...

I wish there were more L/M fics.

Happy Birthday [profile] special_trille !

[profile] cricketk and I went furniture shopping today. Last Sunday I lied to my mum about buying a dining suite to get out of working at the shop. I told her that it would be delivered by Friday, so I kind of panicked today.

I was all set to buy a cheap yet sturdy pine dining table, but ended up with quite a decent one instead. Sure, it was almost double my budget, but I got it any way. I would have been unhappy with my original choice. Also, it suits the house a lot more. I also bought an extremely ugly, but uber comfortable *velvet* lounge suite. The lounge suite got added on because we 'rock-hammer--scissored' and I lost. Which was just as well, otherwise I would have bought the leather couch and it would have killed me.

So yeah, am completely broke.

Thanks for your help and enabling, cricketk! Much appreciated.

Dad is as happy as a pig in mud.

Mum has been wanting a mobile phone for a while ever since her last few emergencies. Dad has been promising her a cheapo phone for just as long but nothing came of it. Last night she complained again and I decided to give her my new Nokia phone (the free one I was given when I signed up with Virgin).

Dad saw the phone and it was instant lust. He generously gave mum his old clunker claiming it was easier to use. She didn't care because she doesn't really need it except for emergencies. Dad was delirious with all the new functionalities of the Nokia.

D: Oh look, a camera *snap snap snap*
Me: *reaches for phone* Yeah, it's pretty good and you can zoom in and out like...
D: *slap hand away* My phone!
D: Oooohhh, GPS! It's broken. It doesn't work.
Me: It's not broken. We're inside the house and not moving.
D: Field Trip!

And off we went on a little trip to KFC Subiaco.

Only this morning did he notice his contacts list was missing. Minor details. Luckily they were all in his directory and could be copied over.

On other news, [profile] special_trille and I had an amazing time in Canberra with [profile] haunted_attics and our fabulous hostess [personal profile] isilya. Our accommodation was five stars (except the pillows - only 4.5 stars) and the food, oh, the fabulous food! The company, as always brilliant. Attic's housemates who were wonderful and Isilya's neighbours who were a riot. Thank you both for making our stay so amazing.

We went to see The Audreys play at the ANU Bar. Fantastic performance, crap venue and people (at the back - front people were brilliant). We also went to see the Turner to Monet exhibition at the National Art Gallery. I fell in love with the Luce and the Van Gogh's "Tree Trunks in the Grass". For reals, I’ve seen the painting before as a print and didn’t care for it, but to see it in real life, the colours are so rich you can’t take your eyes off it.

The rest of our stay was spent eating. On Sunday we started with muffins for breakfast and a pot of tea. We went to the markets  and had more food (tastings - we stayed for hours sampling the food) and then went back to Attics place to drink ginger wine, eat flavoured macadamia nuts and then gorged ourselves with  the most amazing spicy pork ribs and a lemon delicious for dessert. The next day we had breakfast which became an antipasto lunch of bagels, trout spread, spicy salsa dip, cummin flavoured cheese and olives. We played with the Wii for a bit and then it was dinner with pesto and parmesan chicken breasts and lemon baked potatoes and salad. We played a wicked game of UNO and then had supper of cracker thins and pate and more of the salsa dip.

I'm not going to bore you with other foods we ate because we ate. A LOT. OMG! And everything was so delicious.  So again, thank you ladies for the company and the food.

Normally I fill in petrol at half a tank and have not noticed that I pay $47. Yesterday I had less than a quarter of a tank and filled my tank up. $87 for a tank of petrol??? Are you kidding me?

I'm going back to public transport.

"A" from work has found an abandoned kitty. She (possibly a he, but A can't find it's bits, so very likely a she) is maybe 2-3 months old and is able to lap and eat of a plate.

She's a cute little mite and is tortoise shell with white, black and orange spots (soooo cute!). Very affectionate and loves attention. But you know, who doesn't? If any one is willing and able to give her a home, please pop me an email.

Just installed it, and I have to say, I love it.

I hated 2004. I couldn't deal with free floating form and the tiny tiny font. With 2008, I can finally see what I'm typing without having to zoom it 200% or changing the font size to a billion. I also like the nifty calendar which I've managed to synch with my iPhone. Obviously, I won't use it because I suck at keeping up my home calendar. I'm going to learn to synch my work calendar instead.

Is it sad that I'm happy that I can bring work home again?

Today was the first time in 3 days where I did not feel as if I was dying. Still not at work, but I thought I could help out at the shop a bit. And then I tried to restock the milk. I think I lifted six 2L bottles of milk from the bottom shelf to the shelf above and broke out in a sweat.

I'm so totally shaking and tired from just doing that. What a wuss!
Talullah has managed to stalk down Mr Gaiman and got him to sign: "For Jasmine, my wrist hurts also my brain."

Look, I'm not sure what she said to him, but apparently he signed it laughing. Sure, he misspelled my name, but I don't care. Yay! I heart her so much at the moment.
I wasn't feeling crash hot on Sunday, and slept most of the day away. Managed to make it out of the house for an hour...and got suckered into buying S2 of Jump Street. Dude, it was only $12.95, I had to!

Yesterday, I managed to stay lucid for about ah hour. Pretty much just enough time for me to walk to the Chemist and buy cough medicine and cold and flu tablets. And then I slept until 9.30 pm. I think I only woke up to take my medication and go to the bathroom. I was so bloody cold. I finally sweated it out earlier this morning. My sheets are disgusting.

Anyway, 10 minutes ago:-

Mum: *annoyed* Oh, you're awake. You slept all of yesterday. What the hell was that?
Me: I was sick.
Dad: Will you be going to work today?
Me: No, I'm still not feeling well.
Dad: Well, later this afternoon don't forget to relieve your mum so she can go buy milk.
Me: I'm sick.
Mum: *to dad* She's going to sleep again. She's so lazy.

Seriously, is it too much to ask that I have 2 fucking days to get over my flu?
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY [profile] cricketk!

I hope you had a brilliant day.

Have new phone and have spent the last 2 hours entering my contact list. On the bright side, I have managed to get rid of a few numbers I will never use again.

Bad news is I have no photos so don't be surprised if I go on random photo taking sprees. Or, you guys can send me a picture of yourselves. That would be much appreciated.
